3 to 1

I am the 1. Susanna is the 3.
We have a TV set and we can get cable channels for a reasonable price, but the two channels in English are CNN, with lots of commercials, and BBC. Moreover, I prefer to get my news from “The New York Times.” So we don’t watch television in the evenings. We don’t watch TV in the United States either, but in Columbia we watch movies on DVD a few of times a week. In Tbilisi, it seems too much trouble to choose a too limited selection of movies to make it worthwhile to buy a DVD player. So we play games at night. Actually, we only have one game—Scrabble—so we play a lot of Scrabble. Which brings me to the “3 to 1” headline. Last night for the first time I used all seven tiles, and, therefore, earned a 50-point bonus. Susanna has already achieved this milestone three times. Together we are improving. Now one or the other can score 300 points fairly regularly. In fact, Susanna scored 395 last night–our highest score ever! Notice the word “piquet” on a triple word score, and the word “joke” on a triple word score. My score? Don’t ask 🙂
