Teaching documentary film

I am going to share some Web-based resources for teaching documentary filmmaking, and I hope that people will reciprocate by writing a comment with their favorite resources.

This site is called “Documentary Film Production: My First Movie. It includes the filmmaker’s film, budget, treatment, interview log, production journal, two drafts of scripts and lessons learned.

This site is for a company called “Micro Documentaries.” I like it because it has examples of 1-minute films in categories such as nonprofit, education medical, purposeful business, environmental sustainability, international, techie, and so on.

I like the “Documentary TV” site because you can see 5-minute trailers for a lot of interesting films. You can learn a lot from viewing trailers.

I like “Documentary Guide” because it is a huge, searchable archive of information about documentary films, festivals, schools, and organizations.

This is an alphabetical list of documentary film festivals with websites and email addresses for each site. It was last updated in 2010, but it is very useful.

The other story follows Tamaz Jalagania, who is a craftsman of swords and guns, an opera singer, and an extraordinary storyteller. "Scholarship" is about my current books, articles, reviews, and grants.
